HainautMons · ~1300 km

Hainaut is the first Belgian province reached on the corridor: Charleroi lies roughly 1,300 km from our Barcelona hub via the E17 crossing at Rekkem. LTL groupage covers the entire province with transit by delivery zone on two weekly departures.

The province's freight profile centres on the post-industrial manufacturing belt between Charleroi and Mons: steel products, automotive components for Caterpillar and the remaining metalworking sector, plus a growing logistics warehousing cluster around La Louvière. Tournai, near the French border, serves as a crossdock point for Franco-Belgian distribution chains.

Both countries are EU members — no customs duties or clearance procedures apply. Standard groupage covers door-to-door delivery throughout the province, with dock appointments at the Charleroi and Mons industrial parks coordinated through our operations team.

West Flanders is the gateway province on the Belgian corridor: Bruges sits roughly 1,350 km from our Barcelona hub, with the E17 motorway crossing at Rekkem providing direct access from France. LTL groupage covers the entire province with transit by delivery zone on two weekly departures.

The province combines a strong food processing industry — a major frozen food and potato processing cluster sits around Roeselare and Kortrijk — with textile and fashion manufacturing. The port of Zeebrugge, a platform of Port of Antwerp-Bruges since 2022, adds ro-ro and container connectivity for combined road-sea forwarding. Kortrijk's proximity to the French border makes it a natural distribution point for Franco-Belgian supply chains.

AntwerpAntwerpen · ~1400 km

Antwerp is the largest freight destination on the Belgian corridor and the one most often described in figures that have nothing to do with a Spanish shipper. The city sits roughly 1,400 km from our Barcelona hub, with LTL groupage on two weekly departures and transit by delivery zone. What follows separates the port's scale from what actually moves on the Spain-Antwerp lane, because the two point in opposite directions.

The scale is real. Eurostat puts Port of Antwerp-Bruges second among EU ports on both measures for 2024 — 244 million tonnes of goods handled and 12.4 million TEU, behind Rotterdam on each and well ahead of Hamburg. The port's own 2025 figures show 266.5 million tonnes across the merged Antwerp and Zeebrugge platforms, down 4.1%, with containers slightly up at 13.6 million TEU and 20,236 seagoing vessel calls. Its container share of the Hamburg-Le Havre range fell 1.2 points to 29.3% over the first nine months of 2025 — the first decline since the 2022 merger.

The Spain lane is the part worth reading slowly. Unaccompanied RoRo freight between Port of Antwerp-Bruges and the Iberian Peninsula fell 19% in 2025, and inside that figure sits a 31% decline to Spain against 65% growth to Portugal. Spain does not appear among the trade partners the port names in its own 2025 breakdown, where the United States took first place at 31.3 million tonnes and overtook the United Kingdom. None of this makes Antwerp a weak destination — it means shortsea capacity is retreating from this specific lane while road stays put, which is the opposite of what the headline tonnage suggests.

Industry here is chemical before it is anything else. Port of Antwerp-Bruges and the sector federation essenscia both call it the largest integrated chemical cluster in Europe — the word integrated is doing real work in that sentence — with the TotalEnergies and ExxonMobil refineries, three steam crackers and roughly 720 km of port-owned pipeline, about 90% of it serving chemicals. BASF Antwerpen has been on site since 1964: 6 km², more than 50 production installations, around 3,000 people, and by BASF's own description the second-largest site in the group worldwide and the largest chemical production site in Belgium; it inaugurated a new alkyl ethanolamines plant in September 2024. INEOS Project ONE at Lillo, an ethane cracker with 1,450 kt of nameplate ethylene capacity, was still under construction in July 2026 and grid-connected since that April — its operator publishes no start-up date, so neither do we.

One thing to strike off any older brief: there is no car plant here. General Motors closed Opel Antwerp in 2010 — the European Commission's redundancy file records 2,834 job losses and names the Province of Antwerp as the region most affected — and no Stellantis assembly has operated in the province since. The site is now the port's NextGen District, a circular-economy zone whose concessionaires include PureCycle polypropylene recycling, Plug green hydrogen and Ekopak water treatment.

Wichtigste bediente Städte

Antwerp, Mechelen, Turnhout, Lier and Herentals cover the province. Antwerp is port and chemicals; Mechelen runs about 350 hectares of business park across Mechelen-Noord, Mechelen-Zuid and Ragheno with more than 300 companies, served by the N16 and E19; Turnhout is Cartamundi, which spent about EUR 25 million expanding its card-printing plant to 22,900 m² in October 2024; Lier still builds buses, as VDL Van Hool Belgium after Van Hool's 2024 bankruptcy; and Herentals has seven business parks on the Albert Canal and the E313, inside the Flemish ENA network.

AntwerpenMechelenTurnhoutLierHerentals

Packaged chemical goods, spare parts and project cargo for the port's plants enter our industrial machinery line — the crackers and refineries themselves move bulk, tank and ISO-container freight, which is not what we run. Printing and packaging materials for Cartamundi, components for the Lier bus plant and manufacturing supplies across the Mechelen and Herentals parks go through the standard groupage service on the weekly calendar.

Infrastruktur und Logistik vor Ort: Antwerp

The route leaves Catalonia at La Jonquera, runs the A7/E15 north through France, crosses into Belgium at Rekkem on the E17 and finishes on the E19 and E34 — roughly 1,400 km, deconsolidated across the 20-29 postcode band. Three road rules shape the last hour. Belgium's kilometre charge applies to every vehicle over 3.5 tonnes and the on-board unit has to be switched on across the entire Belgian network, with charging applied on the tolled sections; Flanders added a CO2 emission-class component to its tariffs on 1 July 2026. The Antwerp low-emission zone does apply to trucks — N2 and N3 are named categories under the Flemish LEZ decree, not just cars — but it covers the city centre and Linkeroever only, so a delivery into the port area or a run on the R1 does not enter it; in 2026 a Euro 5 or Euro 6 diesel has automatic access after the Flemish Government dropped the planned tightening in November 2025. And the Oosterweel link is mid-build across the R1: the Scheldt tunnel elements are in place with interior fit-out starting in autumn 2026, while the temporary Bypass that opened in October 2025 is being extended through the year. Lantis publishes no completion date, so we schedule around the works rather than around a promised opening.

Häufige Fragen

How long does freight from Spain to Antwerp take?

Antwerp receives LTL groupage with transit by delivery zone for a route of roughly 1,400 km — it's one of the three published hubs on the Belgian corridor. Departures are weekly with online tracking from pickup to delivery.

Does the Antwerp low-emission zone affect truck deliveries?

It applies to trucks — N2 and N3 are subject categories under the Flemish low-emission-zone decree — but the zone covers the city centre and Linkeroever, not the port area or the R1 ring, so most port deliveries never enter it. For city-centre consignees in 2026, a Euro 5 or Euro 6 diesel has automatic access; the Flemish Government scrapped the planned tightening in November 2025 and will re-evaluate from 2027.

Do you carry automotive parts for the Opel plant in Antwerp?

There is no Opel plant. General Motors closed Opel Antwerp in 2010 and no Stellantis assembly has run in the province since; the site is now the port's NextGen District, hosting PureCycle, Plug and Ekopak. Automotive freight for Belgium goes to Limburg, not here.

What postcodes in Antwerp do you cover?

Prefixes 20 through 29 cover the province — Antwerp city, Mechelen, Turnhout, Lier and Herentals. All at standard Antwerp rates with last-mile delivery included.

LiègeLüttich · ~1350 km

Liège is the logistics capital of eastern Belgium: the city of Liège — one of the three published hubs on the corridor — sits roughly 1,350 km from our Barcelona hub. LTL groupage covers the entire province with transit by delivery zone on two weekly departures.

The province's freight demand is anchored by the Liège Logistics trimodal platform — road, rail and inland waterway — and Liège Airport (1.33 million tonnes of cargo in 2025, hosting the Alibaba/Cainiao and FedEx European hubs). Industrial supplies for the steel and metalworking heritage sector, plus arms manufacturing (FN Herstal), add specialised freight verticals. Verviers's historical textile industry has pivoted to technical fabrics and packaging.

As an intra-EU corridor, no customs or border procedures apply. Standard groupage covers door-to-door delivery across the province, with ADR-certified transport available for the industrial sector (classes 2, 3, 4.1, 5.1, 6.1, 8 and 9).

LimburgHasselt · ~1400 km

Belgian Limburg is the automotive heartland of Belgium, with Hasselt roughly 1,400 km from our Barcelona hub. LTL groupage covers the entire province with transit by delivery zone on two weekly departures.

The province's freight profile is shaped by the legacy of Ford Genk, whose site is now the Genk Green Logistics estate, and the Thor Park innovation campus on the former Waterschei colliery. Automotive component suppliers, industrial machinery for the manufacturing base, and the fruit-growing sector around Sint-Truiden (Belgium's largest apple and pear region) generate the corridor's key demand drivers.

Both countries are EU members — no customs or border procedures apply. Standard groupage covers door-to-door delivery across the province, from the Thor Park innovation campus to the Sint-Truiden fruit processing zone.

Luxembourg (BE)Arlon · ~1200 km

Luxembourg is the southernmost Walloon province, with Arlon roughly 1,200 km from our Barcelona hub and sitting on the border with the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. LTL groupage covers the entire province with transit by delivery zone on two weekly departures.

The province combines light manufacturing — metalworking, wood processing and construction materials around Marche-en-Famenne — with agricultural services and forestry equipment. Arlon's proximity to the Grand Duchy generates cross-border logistics demand for companies serving both the Belgian and Luxembourgish markets. The E25/E411 motorway intersection provides efficient last-mile access.
