Yes, on scheduled lanes — most packaged ADR classes including Class 3 flammable liquids, Class 8 corrosives, Class 9 miscellaneous (lithium batteries, airbag modules). Swiss ADR requirements mirror the European Agreement; our drivers hold current ADR certificates and our vehicles carry the required placards, extinguishers, and PPE. Not Class 1 (explosives) or Class 7 (radioactive).
Maximum 40 tonnes gross vehicle weight, maximum 4 metres height. Our fleet is configured for Swiss compliance; over-height or over-weight loads need a route permit we arrange in advance. Alpine tunnel restrictions also apply — Gotthard and San Bernardino have transit windows we plan around.
Swiss MwSt at import is 8.1% on the CIF value. By default the consignee is the importer of record and pays at clearance. If you're shipping DDP (Delivered Duty Paid), the Swiss broker can advance the MwSt + duty on your behalf and invoice you — ask us to quote DDP specifically since it changes the landed-cost calculation.

Swiss road freight has operational quirks that don't exist on intra-EU lanes. These are the ones that show up most often in our Spain → Switzerland dispatches.
Switzerland charges a per-kilometer heavy-vehicle fee on trucks over 3.5 tonnes. It's priced into our rates — we don't surprise customers with it at invoice time. The fee is higher than EU tolls, which is why Swiss lane rates sit above comparable intra-EU corridors.
Heavy trucks can't drive on Swiss roads between 22:00 and 05:00, and not on Sundays or public holidays. Our dispatch builds transit around this — no truck arrives at a Swiss border at 22:01 Saturday expecting to roll.
Gotthard, San Bernardino, and other alpine tunnels have ADR tunnel codes (A–E). Some hazardous classes are restricted from certain tunnels. Our ADR routing automatically checks tunnel codes for the classes you ship.
Standard Swiss VAT is 7.7% (2.5% reduced, 3.7% lodging). Your Swiss buyer pays import VAT as importer of record; if VAT-registered they typically reclaim. We don't pay VAT on your behalf — we coordinate with your Swiss broker / consignee for declaration.
The 26 Swiss cantons have some regional paperwork differences, especially for food and regulated goods. Our Swiss broker partners know which canton-specific notifications (if any) apply to your load.
Chiasso and Basel customs don't close, but staffing can be lighter on weekends. Pre-lodged paperwork via our broker partners minimizes dependency on on-site processing speed.
