Road freight Spain → Pest County

Pest county wraps around Budapest without including it, and that single administrative fact explains its freight profile. This is where the capital's warehousing actually sits: the county's own logistics review of December 2025 finds the estate concentrated along the M0 in the agglomeration ring and above all in its southern part, with Érd recording 534 registered transport-and-warehousing enterprises in 2024 — the highest of any settlement in the county — and Szigetszentmiklós 369. Logistics enterprises employed more than 35,000 people in the county in 2023, 7.7% of everyone working for Pest county enterprises.

The distribution centres are large and recent. JYSK's Ecser facility opened in 2022 at 143,000 m² with around 300 staff, described as Hungary's largest logistics building and serving seven countries from 2026; eMAG-Extreme Digital runs 117,000 m² at Dunaharaszti; Tesco opened 100,000 m² at Szigetszentmiklós in 2024 with around 900 staff. Below them sit Pepco at Gyál, Auchan and Spar at Üllő, ALDI at Biatorbágy, Lidl at Ecser and Szigetszentmiklós, GLS at Alsónémedi and Waberer's at Ecser. The multi-tenant parks are on the same scale — CTPark Budapest West at Biatorbágy runs 330,167 m², DEPO at Törökbálint 232,716 m², Prologis Park Budapest-Sziget at Szigetszentmiklós 202,000 m².

The motorway geometry is unusually good because every radial out of Budapest crosses the county. The M0 ring meets roads 2, 11 and 4, the M3, the M5 at Gyál and the M6; the M31 links the M0 to the M3 at Gödöllő over 12,410 m of 2x2, completed in July 2010 specifically to take transit traffic off the M0 and M3; the M2 expressway runs 19,615 m from the M0 to Vác, opened to traffic in February 2021. The M1's first county junctions — Biatorbágy at km 17, Sasfészek-tó at km 22 and Herceghalom at km 26 — put the western industrial parks within a few kilometres of the motorway.

Two things the county does not have are worth stating plainly, because assuming otherwise misroutes freight. It has no rail-road intermodal terminal: BILK is Hungary's principal one and Pest county's own logistics review places it outside the county, inside Budapest's administrative boundary. And it has no national public freight port — the Danube facilities in the county are passenger landing stages, not cargo terminals. A multimodal facility at Érd is planned under the county development concept, but it is a plan.

Érd, Budaörs, Dunakeszi, Vác, Gödöllő and Szentendre cover the county, but the freight weight sits in the southern agglomeration ring — Érd, Szigetszentmiklós, Üllő, Ecser, Gyál, Alsónémedi and Biatorbágy — where the distribution centres and logistics parks are concentrated along the M0.

Local Infrastructure & Logistics in Pest County

The route into Pest county enters Hungary at Tornyiszentmiklós and runs about 236 km of continuous motorway — the M70 into the M7 — to the M0 ring, arriving on the south-western side of it. That is the side the county's warehouse belt is on, so the approach now meets the volume before it meets the capital; the M1 junctions at the county's western edge — Biatorbágy at km 17, Sasfészek-tó at km 22 and Herceghalom at km 26 — are reached from the ring rather than passed on the way in. From the M0 the radials do the rest: the M2 north to Vác, the M31 to Gödöllő, the M4 east towards Cegléd and Abony, and the M6 south to Százhalombatta — while Érd and Budaörs sit on the M7 approach itself, before the ring. That geometry is why the southern agglomeration became the warehouse belt, and why last-mile legs from a deconsolidated trailer stay short. Two constraints shape the schedule. The M0 ring is not closed in the north, so anything crossing between the Buda side and the north-east takes the long way. And the M1 widening to 2x3 lanes, with works on the km 16-39 stretch running to 30 September 2026 and lane closures at Herceghalom and Biatorbágy through August 2026, no longer sits on the inbound leg but still governs the county's M1 junctions and anything routed on to Győr. Both are already accounted for in the transit we confirm at quotation.

Key industries on this lane

The county's distribution estate is retail and e-commerce rather than automotive, so the dominant mapping is to our e-commerce service, with food and beverage and wine and beverages restocking for the grocery distribution centres. Technology, industrial machinery, construction materials and furniture run alongside them across the agglomeration ring.

Frequently asked

What is the transit time from Spain to Pest county?

Pest county sits roughly 1,950 km from our Barcelona hub and LTL groupage delivers on request — the same profile as Budapest, since the county's freight addresses sit on the M0 ring around the capital. Transit is confirmed when we quote the shipment.

Do you deliver to the distribution centres around the M0?

Yes, that is the county's main volume. Ecser, Üllő, Gyál, Szigetszentmiklós, Alsónémedi, Dunaharaszti and Biatorbágy all price as standard Pest county coverage, including the large retail and e-commerce facilities and the CTPark, Prologis, HelloParks and DEPO estates.

Is there an intermodal terminal in Pest county?

No. Hungary's principal rail-road terminal is BILK, and although it sits immediately south of the county boundary it is inside Budapest's administrative area — Pest county's own logistics review says so explicitly. The county also has no national public freight port; its Danube facilities are passenger landing stages. All our Pest county deliveries arrive by road.

Which postcodes do you cover?

Prefixes 20, 21, 22, 23, 26 and 27 — the Pest county ranges around the capital. Any postcode under those prefixes prices as standard Pest county coverage.
