Northern Hungary is the region where the road network stops behaving uniformly, and a carrier that quotes it as one delivery profile will be wrong about at least one of its three county seats. Miskolc sits roughly 1,950 km from our Barcelona hub, with LTL groupage at 4-5 working days on two weekly departures.

The M3 crosses the region continuously — about 75 km through Heves and 44 km through Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén before leaving for Hajdú-Bihar — but it does not serve Miskolc. Miskolc is reached by the M30, which runs wholly inside Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén from its junction with the M3 at Emőd, at M3 km 149.646, north to the Slovak border at Tornyosnémeti, about 87 km. The Miskolc-Tornyosnémeti section, 56.632 km of new-alignment 2x2 motorway built for HUF 197.1 billion, opened to traffic on 19 October 2021.
Eger is not on a motorway at all. It is reached by the M25, classified as an expressway rather than an autópálya, 17.4 km long, branching off the M3 at km 107.468 and opened to traffic on 20 July 2020 after a final section costing HUF 43.18 billion. And Salgótarján is the sharp case: Nógrád county has no motorway and no expressway of any kind. Magyar Közút's network-length dataset records 0 km of autópálya and 0 km of autóút for the Nógrád directorate at 31 December in every year from 2018 through 2024, and no M-numbered road appears anywhere in the county in the 2024 traffic census.
What carries Salgótarján instead is road 21, a first-order main road that runs 2x2 for 14.8 km in Heves and 36.6 km in Nógrád and then drops back to single carriageway at km 57.888 — the last 7.1 km to the Slovak border are still not dual. The legacy road 3 through the region is single carriageway over 67.3 km in Heves and 87.0 km in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén, against only 8.7 and 10.5 km of four-lane. KSH's own assessment, made when the region had 146 km of motorway and expressway, was that of its three county seats only Miskolc was directly connected to the motorway system. That is still the shape of it.
Miskolc, Eger, Tiszaújváros, Kazincbarcika, Gyöngyös and Salgótarján cover the region. Miskolc is on the M30 and Eger on the M25 expressway; Salgótarján and the Nógrád end of the region are reached entirely on main roads, principally road 21.

The route into Northern Hungary enters at Hegyeshalom and runs about 157 km of M1 to the M0 ring, then the M3 east — roughly 137 km from the ring to the M30 junction at Emőd — and finally the M30 north into Miskolc. Eger leaves the M3 earlier, at km 107.468, onto the 17.4 km M25 expressway. Salgótarján leaves the motorway network altogether. The region's logistics anchor is not automotive: none of Hungary's vehicle plants is here, and the largest documented facility is Bosch's logistics and distribution centre in the Miskolc Industrial Park, handed over on 14 February 2025 on a site of nearly 100,000 m² and costing over HUF 54 billion, dimensioned for roughly 204,000 pallets a year requiring about 3,300 truck shipments annually, at a Robert Bosch Power Tool site employing more than 3,700 people. There is no rail-road intermodal terminal anywhere in the region, and no Danube frontage at all — none of the 32 member ports of the Hungarian Federation of Danube Ports lies in these three counties. Everything arrives by road, which is why the state of road 21 matters as much as the state of the M30.

Food and beverage, wine and beverages — Eger and the Mátra foothills are wine country — furniture and e-commerce restocking run across the region.
Miskolc sits roughly 1,950 km from our Barcelona hub and LTL groupage delivers in 4-5 working days on two departures a week. Freight runs the M1 to the M0 ring, the M3 east to Emőd and then the M30 north — Miskolc is on the M30, not on the M3 itself.
No, and it is the clearest case on the corridor. Nógrád county has recorded 0 km of motorway and 0 km of expressway in Magyar Közút's network dataset every year from 2018 to 2024. Salgótarján's traffic runs on road 21, which is dual carriageway for part of its length and drops to single carriageway for the last stretch to the Slovak border. We cover Salgótarján as standard, but the delivery window is planned around a main-road final leg.
Industrial machinery and technology freight into the Miskolc industrial estate and the Tiszaújváros and Kazincbarcika chemical and engineering base, plus construction materials for regional building supply. There is no automotive OEM in this region — Hungary's vehicle plants are at Győr, Esztergom, Kecskemét and Debrecen — so the mix here is genuinely different from the western corridor.
