Why is my groupage price based on loading metres and not weight?
A groupage price is charged on the space your freight occupies in the trailer, measured in loading metres (LDM). Weight only enters through an equivalence: 1,750 kg counts as one loading metre, so a dense pallet is billed on its weight rather than its footprint. Two further rules can push the billed figure above what you declare — a minimum of 2 loading metres, and a published scale that rounds up to the next step.
