The Balearics are EU customs and tax territory exactly like the mainland: there is no customs clearance for leaving the islands. What there is, and cannot be avoided, is a sea leg.
Everything leaving the islands by road boards a ro-ro ferry to Barcelona, Valencia or Dénia, and the European run only begins at the arrival port. That adds a fixed call with its own timetable: the ship does not wait, and missing a sailing costs a full day.
In practice the collection date here is set by the shipping line, not the truck. We work backwards from the ferry departure, which is why we ask for more notice from the Balearics than from any mainland origin.
Is there customs clearance shipping from the Balearics to Europe?
No. The islands sit inside the EU customs and VAT territory, so on paper it is an ordinary intra-Community shipment. The difference from the mainland is logistical, not fiscal: the ferry.
How much does the sea leg add to the lead time?
It depends on which sailing you catch more than on the crossing itself. That is why we publish no average transit from here: the governing variable is space on the ship, and averaging it alongside mainland origins would produce a number that describes neither.
Do you also collect in Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera?
Yes, on the same logic with one more call: the inter-island link first, then the ferry to the mainland. The further the freight is from Mallorca, the more notice is needed to line up both sailings.
